“Do the right thing at the right time” – that is our motto in Ghana. All projects are implemented hand in hand with the population. They come to us with their ideas and suggestions and together we develop the projects and solutions on site. Thanks to this participatory project approach and 100 percent involvement in what is happening, the projects continue to run after some time even without our help, thus permanently improving people’s quality of life. The commitment, experience and reliability of our local staff, who are familiar with the language and the cultural background of the people, contribute significantly to the success of the relief work.Bettina Landgrafe, founder of Madamfo Ghana
Almost 20 years ago the founder of Madamfo Ghana, Bettina Landgrafe, came to Ghana. The registered paediatric nurse tried to alleviate the need by working in a small bush clinic. The majority of the population lives in great poverty. and many inhabitants lack basic necessities of life such as clean drinking water.
All employees come from Ghana and all affected groups are involved in the development of the projects: The inhabitants as the target group of the project, the government in the form of local decision-makers such as local councils and deputies for the region and the staff of Madamfo Ghana, who then implement projects in cooperation with the inhabitants.
Only in this way can the projects continue after some time without the help of Madamfo Ghana and permanently improve the quality of life of the people. The commitment, experience and reliability of our local staff, who are familiar with the language and the cultural background of the people, contribute significantly to the success of the relief work.
As the organization is officially registered in both Germany and Ghana, Madamfo Ghana, as a legal partner of the Ghanaian government, can receive both personnel and other funding such as land for new projects. This increases flexibility in our interaction with local authorities and saves donations, as there are no follow-up costs, such as personnel costs for our schools, kindergartens and hospitals. Sustainability and help for self-help par excellence!
We are incredibly happy to support Madamfo Ghana, another great organization that has been working for many years for a better, healthier and more just life for the people of Ghana. It is our goal to make a difference in the world and being able to support Bettina Landgrafe and her team in the future brings us one step further on this long road.“
